Proper English tea scones, the quintessential companion to any afternoon tea! These scones are the stuff of dreams, golden and slightly crumbly on the outside, with a tender, airy interior that practically melts in your mouth.
These scones are made with the simplest of ingredients, yet the result is nothing short of sublime. Butter, flour, cream, and just a hint of sugar come together in perfect harmony, creating a rich, delicate crumb that’s neither too sweet nor too dense. Whether enjoyed warm from the oven or cooled to room temperature, they’re the perfect base for the ultimate tea-time debate: cream first or jam?
Whichever side you fall on, there’s one thing we can all agree on: these scones are best enjoyed with a pot of freshly brewed tea, preferably poured from a porcelain teapot, and sipped slowly while basking in the late afternoon sun.
